A plain-language look at what ymaplify stores, why, where it goes, and the switches you control. Every line here is kept true to the code. When you have an account, you'll find the same page — with your switches — under Settings → Data & privacy → What we store & why.
Your sign-in
WhatYour email, display name, and the 6-digit codes we email to sign you in — there is no password.
WhySo you can get into your account securely, with no password that could ever leak.
WhereStored with Supabase (EU). Sign-in codes and your IP address are kept only as scrambled hashes, never in the clear. Codes are emailed through Resend.
How longKept while your account is active. Sign-in codes are one-time and expire within minutes.
Removed when you delete your account.
Your places & trips
WhatEvery pin, map, trip and note — plus any travel documents or booking PDFs you upload.
WhyIt's your content: saving, planning and sharing it is the whole app.
WhereSupabase (EU); uploaded files live in Supabase Storage.
How longKept while your account is active.
Delete any pin or trip in the app; everything is removed when you delete your account.
Location
WhatFour things can read your device location, and only when you tap them. "Use my location" ranks saved places entirely on your device. "Show my location" adds a marker to the open CityMap on your device. A "near me" Magic Search sends your coordinates in that one search request. The visit bonus sends them once to check whether you are within 250 m of a place.
WhySo saved places can rank by your city, you can see yourself on an open CityMap, a "near me" search can look around your real position, and confirming a real visit can earn a bonus Magic Search.
WhereNowhere for the local ranking chip or CityMap marker. A "near me" search sends the coordinates to our EU server and, when a provider lookup is needed, to Google Places as a one-time location bias. The visit check sends them once to our EU server for the comparison. Neither network path writes the coordinates to our database.
How longNot stored. We keep no location history — search keeps only the places you choose, and a successful visit check records only that the place earned its bonus.
The browser asks before either network use reads your location. Say no and no nearby search or visit check runs; replace “near me” with a city and Magic Search still works.
App analytics
WhatWhich screens and actions get used (product analytics), plus how fast pages load (Speed Insights).
WhySo we can see what to fix and what feels slow.
WherePostHog, Google Analytics and Vercel process it — Google Analytics runs cookie-free with your IP anonymized. We never sell it and never show ads.
How longHeld by those providers under their own retention.
Your switch. Off until you say yes. Turn it on to help us see what to fix — the app works the same either way.
Magic search & bots
WhatWhen you paste a link or message a bot, we send that link's content — its caption, images or audio — to reading services to pull out the real places. We never send your name, email or account id.
WhyThat is how Magic search turns a link or a chat into pins on your map.
WhereApify opens the link, Google Gemini reads the text and images, and Groq (Whisper) transcribes audio. The bots run on WhatsApp, Telegram and Instagram.
How longWe keep only the places we extract; each provider keeps what it processes under its own policy.
No switch — this is how the feature works. Don't paste anything you want to keep private.
Personalization
WhatThe travel style you pick — your vibe, pace, budget and interests (your Travel taste).
WhySo Magic search sorts places for your taste instead of showing one generic top list.
WhereSupabase (EU); visible only to you — never shared and never sold.
How longKept until you change or clear it, or delete your account.
Your switch. On by default. Turn it off and Magic search still works the same — your saved picks just are not used to sort results.
Payments
WhatWhen you buy Premium on the web, Stripe — as the seller of record — handles your name, billing address, card and tax. We never see or store your card number.
WhyTo take payment, calculate tax and send you receipts.
WhereStripe (web) or Apple (App Store). From them we only get your subscription status and the billing alerts we need to run your account.
How longStripe keeps invoices for as long as tax law requires.
Requesting deletion stops a card subscription renewing right away — your paid time runs to the end of the period; an App Store subscription you cancel yourself in your Apple account.
Messages & social
WhatDirect messages to friends, your friend connections, and stories — a photo or video shown to friends for 24 hours, then kept privately in your own archive. You can block or report anyone.
WhySo you can plan and share trips with the people you travel with.
WhereSupabase (EU); story media lives in Supabase Storage.
How longStories are friend-visible for 24 hours, then private to you; everything is removed when you delete your account.
Delete a story any time; messages and stories are removed when you delete your account.
Error reports & diagnostics
WhatWhen something breaks we log a technical error report (what failed and on which screen) and a minimal activity log (which screens and actions). Your notes and passwords are never in it.
WhyTo find and fix crashes and keep the app reliable.
WhereSupabase (EU); Sentry processes the limited technical crash diagnostics.
How longDeleted automatically once older than 90 days.
After you delete your account, any remaining error reports are anonymized — your id is removed.
Deleting or exporting everything
WhatYou can download a copy of your data as a file, or schedule your whole account for deletion.
WhyIt's your data — you can take it or remove it whenever you want.
WhereExport is a file you download. Deletion runs on our servers.
How longDeletion has a 30-day undo window — sign back in before then to cancel. Card-subscription renewals stop as soon as you request deletion (your paid time runs to the period end); after the window a daily job cancels any remaining billing and permanently removes your account, content and files.
What honestly stays: invoices Stripe must keep for tax, error reports with your id removed, and a small deletion record. An App Store subscription must be cancelled at Apple.
Supabase (EU)Your account, places, trips, messages and files — everything, protected by row-level security.
VercelHosts ymaplify and runs our own serverless functions. A "near me" search and a visit check send location through the EU (Frankfurt) once; the coordinates are never stored. Most of your data goes straight to Supabase, not through Vercel.
Stripe / AppleThe details needed to take payment. Stripe is the seller of record for the web and handles your card — it never touches our database; we only get your subscription status back.
Apify · Google Gemini · Groq · Google PlacesReading services receive submitted link content; Google Places receives search text and, only for a "near me" search, that one location bias. Never your name, email or account id.
WhatsApp · Telegram · InstagramThe messages you send our bots, so you can save places straight from chat.
ResendYour email address and a one-time sign-in code, only to send you that code. No marketing mail.
CARTO · OpenStreetMapMap tiles and place search load straight in your browser as you use the map, so they see your IP address and the area or text on screen.
